Bat-Ami Bar On
BAT-AMI
BAR ON is a Professor of Philosophy and Women's Studies and chair of
the Department of Philosophy. She received her Ph.D. from Ohio State
University in 1981. She has been at Binghamton University (SUNY) since
1991. She is a recipient of the Chancellor Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Her areas of research and teaching include theories of violence, political
and social theory, and feminist social-political philosophy. Her publications
include The Subject of Violence: Arendtean Exercises in Understanding (Rowman
and Littlefield, 2002), Jewish Locations: Traversing Racialized Landscapes (coedited
with Lisa Tessman, Rowman and Littlefield, 2001), Daring to Be Good:
Essays in Feminist Ethico-Politics (coedited with Ann Ferguson,
Routledge, 1998) and numerous anthologized and journal articles.
